Christianity on trial in Duck Dynasty controversy

Christianity is on trial again in America, we have reported on hundreds of cases were Christians are persecuted for stating there beliefs. This time Duck Dynasty star, has been let go because he spoke out against homosexuality. Phil Robertson was interviewed by GQ Magazine, and was asked what in his mind is sinful:

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers-they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

The Hollywood Reporter chronicles the nearly immediate reaction

A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the seriesDuck Dynasty,” A&E said in a statement. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Rather inaccurately, THR claims:

The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview with the magazine.

First of all, Robertson spoke of homosexual behavior – i.e., acts. He took care not to characterize homosexuality per se as sinful. This is quite consistent with Christian doctrine of loving the sinner while hating the sin. That crucial point obviously eludes The Hollywood Reporter. But there is a second serious distortion in the Hollywood Reporter summation:

The only comparison involved was that both are sins. As is adultery, as is swindling and a number of other sins mentioned by Robertson. THR might as well have stated “Roberson compared homosexuality to adultery,” but that would not have sparked the same level of outrage. And the goal here is to generate outrage, so as to make expression of disapproval of homosexual acts an absolute taboo.

So basically it’s okay to spread homosexuality all over the media, and for homosexuals to state there beliefs openly, but Christians are mocked for there’s. If this was a show, and Jesus was spoke against nothing would be said about it. Our country has went morally bankrupt, Jesus is the way the truth and the life, and homosexuality is a sin. He was right in his statement, it is to be compared to sex with animals. This is why murder is up, there was once a time in America were homosexuality was considered a mental disorder. The bible is very clear about homosexuality being a abomination, and unnatural.  God has not changed, I stand with this believer who loves God, more than a contract. Christians can not remain silent about this, we must speak against this abomination in love. I love homosexuals hate the sin, we have to stand up for the things of God even to the death. True Christianity can not remain silent about sin, and the consequences. Jesus is coming back soon, so the spread of immorality should be of no shock.

2 Timothy 3

The Message (MSG)

Difficult Times Ahead

3 1-5 Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They’ll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they’re animals. Stay clear of these people.

6-9 These are the kind of people who smooth-talk themselves into the homes of unstable and needy women and take advantage of them; women who, depressed by their sinfulness, take up with every new religious fad that calls itself “truth.” They get exploited every time and never really learn. These men are like those old Egyptian frauds Jannes and Jambres, who challenged Moses. They were rejects from the faith, twisted in their thinking, defying truth itself. But nothing will come of these latest impostors. Everyone will see through them, just as people saw through that Egyptian hoax.

The bible is clear, Jesus compared his second coming to Sodom and Gommorrah in the conditions. Sodom was known for perversion so much so that Lot, was the only one worthy of saving. This is a picture of a world of immorality, Jesus said if he did not shorten the days during the coming great tribulation, that no flesh would remain (Mathew 24)  We have to stand for truth, a flee from all appearances of evil. This is what the bible says about homosexuality:

Leviticus 18:22

English Standard Version (ESV)

22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Romans 1:26-28

English Standard Version (ESV)

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to dowhat ought not to be done.

Let’s continue to pray for our fallen nation, God’s judgment is not coming its all ready here.
